Jane Topping

I am a Canadian artist and long time resident of the Frontenac Arch Biosphere (FAB).  The Frontenac Arch Biosphere’s UNESCO designation and its international recognition as a world-class natural and cultural heritage site is something to be very proud of. I consider being able to call FAB my home a very great privilege. A privilege that entails a personal responsibility for all who choose to live, work and play here to seek innovative  ways and opportunities to actively contribute to ensuring that the things that make FAB FABulous will be here for all future generations. Working together the FAB community can thrive and build a sustainable, vibrant future, for this truly wonderful area.

FAB’s largely unspoiled natural landscape, and the wonderful quality of life it provides—the biodiversity—rich history—built and natural heritage, are irreplaceable treasures. Every season in the FAB brings wonderful gifts and unfolds its own special natural beauty across our amazing landscape. It is this unique landscape tapestry and the quality of life that FAB provides that both sustains me personally and inspires me as an artist.

With a paint brush or camera, I am driven to capture images of the places and things that I love. Images that I hope will kindle viewers’ interest and stimulate their imagination, or fond memories. My mission is  to capture visually the unique beauty I see in both the familiar and unfamiliar things I encounter on my travels here in the FAB, or in the far away places I visit

I am always interested in learning more about my craft. I enjoy attending workshops offered by photographers and painters whose work I respect. The knowledge gained from   these workshops I then experiment with and develop, to make my own. I create images that please me using techniques and from a perspective that is distinctively my own.  I strive to create images that draw the viewer to look at them, and I hope that as they view them they will appreciate my interpretation of the intrinsic beauty of the natural and man-made environment that is all around us wherever we are.

I exhibit fine art at Gallery VAGA (Visual Artists of Gananoque and Area) 95 King Street East, Gananoque, Ontario.

I am a member of the Rideau Lakes Artists’ Association.  Images of some of my fine art may be seen on their website, at : http://www.rideaulakesartists.com?artists?jane-m-topping
