1.Nature Camp - Lead Counsellor
 
Location: Kendrick's Park, Lyndhurst Ontario
Organization: Frontenac Arch Biosphere (FAB)
 
Summary of Position/Job Description
The FAB Nature Camp Lead Counsellor is responsible for working with the Program Manager to create engaging lessons that forge a healthy relationship between children and their natural environment. The successful candidate will provide the leadership for 2 Junior Counsellors in maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for campers between 6-12 years old. The Lead Counsellor is responsible for Lifeguarding and upholding the policies and procedures of the FAB Nature Camps.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
1.) Provide engaging and safe outdoor educational and recreational experiences.
2.) Represent the FAB at the Kendrick’s Park location.
3.) Instruct Counsellors in the implementation of Program Material and campers in activities.
4.) Identify and respond to camper behavior issues, in a timely and meaningful way.
5.) Communicate with parents about daily activities and program details.
6.) Report concerns, material needs, and progress reports to the Program Manager.
7.) Maintain a daily activities/events log, detailing program challenges and successes.
8.) Ensure that the facility is clean, organized, and litter free.
9.) Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas.
 
Qualifications - Required
1.) Ontario High School Diploma - must be 18 years or older
2.) Currently enrolled or a recent graduate of a relatable College or University Program.
3.) Experience in a leadership role, working with children.
4.) First Aid/CPR/AED certified.
5.) Police Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector Check (Valid within the last 6 months).
6.) NLS Certified Lifeguard.
7.) Willingness to work Monday through Friday, in the natural elements - rain or shine.
8.) Personal means of transportation to and from camp.
9.) Able to walk 5 kilometers and lift 50 pounds.
 
Qualifications - Assets
1) Bilingual.
2) Member of the Ontario College of Teachers.
3) Outdoor enthusiast, naturalist, and survival skills preferred.
 
Contract Dates: July 2nd, 2018 to August 31st, 2018
Wage: $17.50 per hour/42.5 hours per week
Hours: 8am-4:30pm

2. Nature Camp - Counsellor

The FAB Nature Camp Counsellor is responsible for working alongside the Lead Counsellor and Program Manager to implement the FAB summer camp program at Kendrick’s Beach in Lyndhurst, Ontario.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
1.) Represent the FAB at the Kendrick’s Beach location.
2.) Assist in implementing and evaluating the FAB Nature Camp program.
3.) Demonstrate leadership and take responsibility for children between the ages of 6-12.
4.) Identify and respond to camper behavior issues, in a timely and meaningful way.
5.) Maintain the FAB philosophy and mandate.
6.) Provide a safe, fun experience for all campers - on land and on water.
7.) Record daily events in a log book and report concerns to the Lead Counsellor.
8.)Ensure that the facility is clean, organized, and litter free.
9.) Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas.
 
Qualifications - Required
