Frontenac Arch Biosphere CBC4Kids (in person)

Birds of the Biosphere!

Winter is one of the best times to get outside and go birding!

Join us, as we explore the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Region and meet our Winged Neighbours.

We have some great, new ways to share the joy of the CBC4Kids (Christmas Bird Count 4 Kids) with you in 2020.

Birding is already the perfect, physically distanced outdoor experience but this year, it gets even better.

Kingston Field Naturalist - Field Trip: “Conduct a CBC Survey” part 2 at Frog Woods

Interested in learning how to conduct a Christmas Bird Count survey? Our local CBC’s are always seeking Citizen Scientists to help tally winter birds. Basic bird ID skills paired with enthusiasm is all you really need, yet the logistics and data-collection aspects of surveying can appear daunting the first time.

Ontario Nature-2020 Christmas Bird Count

No experience necessary — bring your fingers, eyes and binoculars if you have them.

After a short training session, participants will head outside to count up the birds they see — contributing to a national database that has tracked bird populations over a long period of time.

This is a rain or shine event so dress appropriately. Bring a lunch, beverages and snacks.

Stay at the end of the day for a social hour with refreshments and the day’s results.

Meet: Park Office by 8:30 a.m

Cost: Daily vehicle permit.
