One of our most popular seasonal events is back, the Friends of Mac Johnson Wildlife Area Annual Fall Festival at the Mac Johnson Wildlife Area in Brockville. The outdoor party takes place on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and features several fun activities for every member of the family. You can enjoy the blazing and breathtaking fall colours, watch the waterfowl – including perhaps some trumpeter swans – on the reservoir in a canoe or kayak (courtesy of the CRCA), and enjoy live music. This year, the Mush Larose dogsledders are back with their dog carts, with races beginning at 11 a.m. If you get hungry, the Friends will also have a barbecue lunch (donations accepted) available at the Nature Centre. After lunch, folks can make popcorn and toast marshmallows at the fire pit near the pond. For more information and updates on other special attractions on this exciting day, visit us on Facebook or www.crca.ca/events. Admission is $5 per vehicle. To get to the Mac Johnson Wildlife Area, take Highway 29 north from Brockville to Tincap, turn east on Debruge Road and drive for two kilometres to the main entrance.
