If your starting at Jones Falls you can put in your boat at the north end of the locks. Also, if your starting from Frontenac Provincial Park you would want to make your way towards Devil Lake (located Northeast of the park).
The locks at Chaffey's, Davis and Jones Falls are scenic but can be very busy during the boating season. Take care to watch for various power boats at the locks and along the Rideau Canal.
Notes and Cautions
The portage at Bedford Mills requires permission (a must) from the private land owner before passage. Currently efforts are being made to make a fully public portage available through Bedford Mills. Also there are two short portages around Chaffey’s and Davis locks.
You can begin the Jones Falls to Frontenac Provincial Park paddle route at either end in Jones Falls or Frontenac Provincial Park.
All of the locks offer camping, clean washrooms, picnic tables and barbecue grills. You don't need a big boat to stay overnight at a lock, and you are free to pitch a tent on the well manicured lawns. The cost to camp is very reasonable. More information on the locks may be found at:
Also there are camp sites available in Frontenac Provincial Park. See https://www.ontarioparks.com/park/frontenac
