Newboro, a small community located on County Road 42, is a popular destination for anglers wishing to land Largemouth Bass that populate Newboro Lake. It is also a popular stop for boaters as it is adjacent to the Newboro lock station of the Rideau Canal.
The Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee of Rideau Lakes Township developped the Newboro Heritage Walking Tour to showcase Newboro's heritage buildings that represent a variety of architectural influences. Where possible, we have used the names of the original owners to Newboro lock stationidentify buildings.
Relive history in this quaint little town, imagine the welcome chime of steam boat bell, the rumble and clang of stagecoach, the toot of railway whistle and the aromas of outer-world spices and local Cheddar in grocer shops. Newboro is an excellent destination to explore village life ten and fifteen decades ago.
