RE: March Break Camp Environmental Educator

 

Location: Lyndhurst, ON and Lansdowne, ON

Organization: Frontenac Arch Biosphere Network (FABN)

The Frontenac Arch Biosphere Network is a Not-For-Profit organization, dedicated to sustainable community development, through the celebration of nature, livelihood, wellbeing and culture. Our Nature Camps champion our mission statement “Enough for all, for all time” through programs that are designed to mentor campers, as they rediscover their unique connection to the natural world.

 

Summary of Position/Job Description

The March Break Environmental Educator is responsible for providing a meaningful and engaging outdoor experience, to campers 5-12 years old. The successful candidate will provide leadership and mentoring to our campers, while maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment. Our Environmental Educators are responsible for upholding the policies and procedures of the FAB Nature Camps and the FAB Mission.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

1.) Provide engaging and safe outdoor educational and recreational experiences.

2.) Represent the FAB Nature Camp program.

3.) Instruct campers in indoor and outdoor activities.

4.) Identify and respond to camper behavioral issues, in a timely and meaningful way.

5.) Report concerns to the Program Manager.

6.) Maintain a daily activities/events log, detailing program challenges and successes.

7.) Ensure that the facility is clean, organized, and litter free.

8.) Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas.

 

Qualifications - Required

1.) Ontario High School Diploma - must be 18 years or older

2.) Currently enrolled or a recent graduate of a relatable College or University Program.

3.) Experience in a leadership role, working with children

4.) First Aid/CPR/AED certified

5.) Police Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector Check (Valid within the last 6 months)

6.) Willingness to work Monday-Friday, rain or shine, for the FULL 1 week contract

7.) Personal means of transportation to and from camp, with a valid driver’s licence   

8.) Able to walk 5 kilometers and lift 50 pounds

 

Qualifications - Assets

1.) Bilingual

2.) Member of the Ontario College of Teachers

3.) Outdoor enthusiast, naturalist, and survival skills preferred

 

Contract Dates:  March 11th-15th, 2019

Wage: $15 per hour

Hours: 8am-4:30pm / 8:30am-5pm

RE: Senior Environmental Educator/Lifeguard at Kendrick’s Park

 

Location: Kendrick’s Park, Lyndhurst Ontario

The Senior Environmental Educator is responsible for working with the Program Manager to create engaging lessons that forge a healthy relationship between children and their natural environment. The successful candidate will provide leadership and mentoring to our campers and volunteers, while maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment. Our Environmental Educators are responsible for upholding the policies and procedures of the FAB Nature Camps and the FAB Mission.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

1.) Provide engaging and safe outdoor educational and recreational experiences.

2.) Represent the FABN at our Kendrick’s Park Location - Township property

3.) Instruct camp counsellors on the implementation of program material and campers in activities.

4.) Identify and respond to camper behavioral issues, in a timely and meaningful way.

5.) Communicate with parents about daily activities and program details.

6.) Report concerns, material needs, and progress reports, to the Program Manager.

7.) Maintain a daily activities/events log, detailing program challenges and successes.

8.) Ensure that the facility is clean, organized, and litter free.

9.) Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas.

10.) Provide waterfront lifeguarding services, to our campers

 

Qualifications - Required

1.) Ontario High School Diploma - must be 18 years or older

2.) Currently enrolled or a recent graduate of a relatable College or University Program.

3.) Experience in a leadership role, working with children

4.) First Aid/CPR/AED certified

5.) Police Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector Check (Valid within the last 6 months)

6.) Willingness to work Monday-Friday, rain or shine, for their FULL contract of 10 weeks

7.) Personal means of transportation to and from camp, with a valid driver’s licence  

8.) Able to walk 5 kilometers and lift 50 pounds

9.) MUST have a current National Lifeguard Certification - pool and/or waterfront

2) Member of the Ontario College of Teachers

Contract Dates: June 17th 2019 to August 30th, 2019

Wage: $15-17.50 per hour, dependent on experience

Hours: 8:30am-4:30pm (40 hours per week)

Duties and Responsibilities

1.) Represent the FABN at the Kendrick’s Park location - a Township Property.

2.) Participate in two days of training (June 26th to 27th).

3.) Demonstrate leadership and assist with campers’ needs, who are between the ages of 6-12.

4.) Assist in implementing the FAB Nature Camp program.

5.) Maintain the FAB philosophy and mandate.

6.) Provide a safe, fun experience for all campers - on land and on water.

7.) Ensure that the facility is clean, organized, and litter free.

8.) Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas.

 

Qualifications - Required

1.) Must be 16 years or older.

2.) High School Diploma.

3.) Interest in working with children and in the outdoors.

4.) First Aid/CPR/AED certified.

5.) Police Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector Check (Valid within the last 6 months).

6.) Willingness to work Monday-Friday, rain or shine for their full 9 week contract

7.) Personal means of transportation to and from camp.

8.) Able to walk 5 kilometers and lift 50 pounds.

1.) Represent the FABN at the Mac Johnson and Lyn Valley locations - CRCA Properties.

2.) Participate in two days of training (June 26th to 27th).

3.) Demonstrate leadership and assist with campers’ needs, who are between the ages of 6-12.

4.) Assist in implementing the FAB Nature Camp program.
