The annual EAHS summer display will be ‘Changing Times: 1945-1965: August 18, 19 and 25, 26 from 10.00am to 3.00pm each days.

Which recollections from 1945 might resonate with you: listening in on a party line of the South Crosby Rural Telephone Company, cutting ice for your home refrigeration needs, attending a one/two room elementary school, enjoying a barn dance, growing up on a small farm?

However, by 1965, these activities, largely, belonged in the past.

Building of the Thousands Island Bridge: Special 80th Anniversary Presentation

August 18, 2018 - 7:00pm to 9:30pm

August 18th will mark exactly 80 years since the opening of the bridge. It was an extraordinary achievement to have taken place in the context of the Great Depression and remains extraordinary even by today’s standards. At the time, it was one of the largest construction projects in North America and it took the cooperation of our two countries at every level to make it happen. Its presence marked the opening of a vital motor vehicle route north and south but also the demise of several local ferry services.
